Morocco no longer arrive at major tournaments as a feel-good outsider alone. FIFA's Morocco team profile notes that the Atlas Lions topped Group E in CAF qualifying and became the first African nation to secure a place at World Cup 2026 thanks to a 5-0 win over Niger on 5 September. After the 2022 semi-final run, the question has shifted from whether Morocco belong at this level to how far they can push it again.
Defender
Paris Saint-Germain
Hakimi remains the side's most explosive individual threat and one of the few full-backs in world football who can completely change a match from deep areas.
Attacking Midfielder
Real Madrid
Brahim gives Morocco more subtle attacking craft between the lines and helps them avoid becoming too reliant on transitions alone.
Forward
Fenerbahçe
En-Nesyri's movement in the box still matters enormously in the type of tight, low-margin games Morocco often play.
Defender
Manchester United
Mazraoui adds balance and top-level club experience to a back line that has become one of Morocco's foundations.
Goalkeeper
Al-Hilal
Bounou remains a tournament goalkeeper in the truest sense: calm, experienced and capable of defining knockout ties.
